Data collection is a part of every transit agency. Whether it is training data, safety data, accident data, or the almost endless supply of other information points around the agency, we all collect data. Yet, many of us haven’t made the jump from collecting data to actually using it. All too often, we spend time, money, manpower, and goodwill to collect information which promptly gets stuck in a filing cabinet never to be seen again, or worse, gets put into a spreadsheet that makes it impossible to pull any meaningful conclusions from the data.
